The range of my PCDUINO is short.

I thought if the distance increases, the bitrate decreases, but not.

iwconfig gives :

"wlan0     IEEE 802.11bgn  ESSID:"*********"  Nickname:"<WIFI@REALTEK>"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.437 GHz  Access Point: **************
          Bit Rate:72.2 Mb/s   Sensitivity:0/0
          Retry:off   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off
Link Quality=95/100  Signal level=-60 dBm  Noise level=0 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0"

if I remove the PCDUINO one meter, I lose the connection. I can't change bit rate with "sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M fixed". No effect.(ifconfig wlan0 down before and ifconfig wlan0 up after).

What can I do for increase the range ?

Have you try another USB WiFi dongle before?

Thanks for you interest.

No, it is the usb dongle on board.

I observed that the bit rate change whit the channel that is used by the router. On channel 11 it is 150 Mb/s and the range is shorter. On channel 6 it is 72,2 Mb/s.

Once established, the bit rate don't change. Closer or farther, it's 72Mb/s on channel 6 or 150 Mb/s on channel 11.

If the channel change, the connexion is lost. I have to declare a new connexion with wicd (Ubuntu 14).

The module used is 8188cu.
