  1. Hi. I just got 3 modules. I am unable to get anything going on these units. I connected both units to 15Vdc on VHH. I connected the ac plugs together with some wire. I measure 5V on the +5VOUT pin, so I assume the module is powered. I set up the comms to Module 1 for 19200 8N1 on pin RXD. No connection on TXD. I measure with scope on RXD to see that data comes in. I measure with scope on AC, I see no carrier signal on the ac. (There is no mains connected to the AC line yet) I measure on module 2, TXD pin. The TXD pin stays at 5v, dropping to 0v every few seconds for 320ms. I tried sending a character at a time. I tried sending a few characters at a time. From the user manual I see that the module works in packets of 20 characters. Is there a framing character that is sent to denote the start or end of the package, i.e cr or lf ? I have tried different comms programs. First I connected with a PIC micro processor that sends some data at 19200 baud. Then I tried using Hyperterminal and a board using a FT232 chip that gives out ttl 5v signals. I then installed X-CTU, transmitting via the same FT232 chip. The data arrives at the module, but does not go any further. Please Help? I desperately want to get this module to work. Thanks
  2. Hello, I am interested in you 4.5" E-paper Shield for Arduino (SKU: SHD_EP4P5_H40 ). I was wondering if you could tell me which pins this screen uses when plugged into the Arduino uno board.

    [Open Source] Java GPIO Manager

Made a quick GUI app using Netbeans (on the pcDuino) that lets the user play around with the GPIO Pins. I also made a class GPIO_Pin with all the functions you need for accessing and manipulating the GPIO pins. Video: Full source code on Github: https://github.com/MohammadAdib/GPIO-Manager The helpful object to manipulate the GPIO Pins: GPIO_Pin.java The executable jar: GPIO_Manager.jar A full screenshot: http://puu.sh/34fd5 Note: Installing Java and Netbeans can be done with 2 simple commands on a pcDuino running lubuntu: sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jdk sudo apt-get install netbeans

    Topic: Installing libUVC

I am attempting to build a stereo vision system using two Microsoft HD 5000 LifeCam webcams. These are UVC cams that I use regularly under Ubuntu 12.10. It seems the Lubuntu image on the pcDuino does not include libUVC so I have tried to install it without success. Per the instructions on http://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ I have gone tohttp://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_Obtain,_Build_and_Install_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers and followed the '"Basic" Approach' instructions. I had to install a number of other programs and Perl packages but I have hit a dead end. When I execute the build script I receive the following error: ****************** * Start building * ****************** make -C /home/ubuntu/media_build/v4l allyesconfig make[1]: Entering directory `/home/ubuntu/media_build/v4l' make[2]: Entering directory `/home/ubuntu/media_build/linux' Applying patches for kernel 3.0.8+ patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/api_version.patch patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/pr_fmt.patch patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/v3.1_no_export_h.patch patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/v3.1_no_dma_buf_h.patch patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/v3.1_no_pm_qos.patch patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/no_atomic_include.patch patch -s -f -N -p1 -i ../backports/v4l2-compat-timespec.patch Patched drivers/media/dvb-core/dvbdev.c Patched drivers/media/v4l2-core/v4l2-dev.c Patched drivers/media/rc/rc-main.c make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/ubuntu/media_build/linux' ./scripts/make_kconfig.pl /lib/modules/3.0.8+/build /lib/modules/3.0.8+/build 1 Preparing to compile for kernel version 3.0.8 File not found: /lib/modules/3.0.8+/build/.config at ./scripts/make_kconfig.pl line 33, line 4. make[1]: *** [allyesconfig] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/ubuntu/media_build/v4l' make: *** [allyesconfig] Error 2 can't select all drivers at ./build line 451. From what I have read I need to install the Linux headers and source. The common approach seems to be to execute the command: sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` linux-source which resolves to: sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.0.8 linux-source or: sudo apt-get install linux-headers-3.0.8+ linux-source I'm not really sure which. Regardless linux-headers-3.0.8 nor linux-headers-3.0.8+ exist in the repository. I noticed, however, when I installed the linux-source package that was installed so I installed linux-headers-3.2.0-38 but it did not solve the problem. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  8. The main purpose for a SBC here is for monitor and control of equipment(s). As a old hardware hand and virtual SBC novice, the pcduino3 surely has some desirable specs and appears to show peppy performance on some of the videos that Google out of the ether. A Google search of: "pcduino3 manual OR code OR support OR source" turns up a few useful sites .. usually from a few of the same sources .. hopefully enough to get out of a jam. If you know of ample, organized and common sources of pcduino3 technical info, especially parenthetic to example projects with source code would make purchase easier. May just get one anyways, though.

    Touch screen

I 'm writing a new topic on this subject because i didn't have any answer with pcduino team about my last post : http://pcduino.com/forum/index.php?topic=4102.0 I would just have a tutorial to make a new kernel who take in charge usb touch screen (egalax driver). For the moment i don't have the time for this and for this reason i bought a beagle bone black with this touch screen : http://www.4dsystems.com.au/product/22/138/Beagle_Bone_LCD_Capes/4DCAPE_70T/ This kit work's directly (with touch screen) ! It's perfect for home automation project ! I like my pcduino but i spend lot of time to search informations about it ... I have already a screen and a touch panel kit (15") to use with it but i don't have the time to configure it ...
  14. hi there here you find images for many linux distributions, actually theyre just a minimal install...i will follow with different releases for different use, as example lamp server, desktop and more the best reason to install these, is that i enabled iptables out of the box and uncomplicated firewall (ufw) is installed, which is not (yet) done by the stock images here on pcduino.com. those images can be installed with dd under linux/mac or win32diskimager from windows root password is mostly empty, except root password for arch image is root itself http://sourceforge.net/projects/debianpcduino/files/?source=navbar for installing it to sdcard you need at least 2gb because they images were made to fit on these cards...to expand it to the realsize of your sd card you can use any partition manager gui as gparted. enjoy and pls let me know if there is an issue, question or something like that

Can you help me get started using your product? I recently purchased your GameDuino and using it with Arduino 1.6.5. I downloaded the Gameduino example code from http://dlnmh9ip6v2uc.cloudfront.net/datasheets/Dev/Arduino/Shields/Gameduino.zip I get an error when I try to upload "selftest"
  17. We currently make use of Raspberry Pi with your RS232 shields in a few of our products and this is likely to continue for at least another year. However, recently we have been encountering an issue. The new model of Raspberry Pi, the B+, has solved a few problems for us and so we have moved over to using it going forward. However, your shield made use of the old Raspberry Pi “mounting holes” to help physically secure the shield. These holes are no longer present on the B+. It is simply not an option for us to not have some kind of physical bracing of your shield. I have examined this problem from a few different angles and attempted to 3D print some braces that might work but in the end, I fell that the best solution is for the board to be redesigned in order to take advantage of the Raspberry Pi’s new mounting holes. This can be achieved by extending your board about 7.3mm on the DB9 connector side of the board and adding at least one mounting hole in the corner that would be near the USB power connector on the Pi. I believe that just one hole there, where a standoff can be used between the Pi and your shield should be sufficient for our purposes.

  19. I had purchased the pcDuino3 for a totally computer oriented project and not considered it's compatibility with shields. Now that I have it, I'm very interested in the possibility of putting my Shapeoko CNC mill's GRBLShield on it and eliminating both my RPi and Arduino Uno. Is this a reasonable goal? Would the pcDuino Arduino IDE be able to handle running the GRBL code normally flashed to the Arduino Uno? I realize the question might border on absurd. I am a software person, but have never spent time hacking hardware, so I'm a bit fuzzy on whether the pcDuino can run code meant for the Arduino, and whether there is a reason the GShield would not work on the pcDuino buss. Thank you
  20. Hi all, I successfully installed Ubuntu 12.10 (32bit, vmware) and got Qt5 (compiled for android), QtCreator 3.2 installed, c_enviroment_android installed and build using script. Qt editor now sees the different toolchains, android architecture...etc and I have it set to use Android 4.0 (14). Got udev rules for my pcDuino v2, and adb devices returns ############ Device (# = bunch of numbers) adb shell (works) adb root (works) adb remount (works) adb push file.apk /system/app (hangs and i must do adb kill-server before I can get any of the above commands to work again) adb install file.apk (same comment above) Does anyone know what is going on? Note: I hav windows 7 with Qt5 (for android), Qt creator 3.2 and all relevant java sdk/ndk installed, and was able to use adb push and qt deploy. So the device is working with adb, but it is under ubuntu that is problematic. Thanks for your feedback FK
  21. Hi guys! Tell me please how can I properly connect the DHT22 sensor to my pcduino v1 board? There are several different ways described in the net, but i didn't find about wiring it to pcduino. What pin should I use: 5v or 3.3v ? And what could you say about pull-up resistor?

    www.wiimu.com not reachable

Every time I tried to update the board, www.wiimu.com is unreachable. Today I decided to update to the newest version of ubuntu. I hoped this problem would be gone, but the problem stays. What do I miss when this site is not available?. Am I the only one with this problem? Is the information also reachable at some other place? And if yes, how do I configure this. I don't have lot of ubuntu experience. Thanks, Bart
  23. Hello, I'm hoping someone else has seen this issue and knows of a fix (or if it is even a common issue). I use XBMC from time-to-time on my pcDuino3. It works great using the Digitally Imported music add-on, etc... The only problem I have is that the screen will go blank after a seemingly random interval and keyboard or mouse activity will not bring the display back. This occurs regardless of if I have the screensaver (dim option) disabled or not. XBMC is still active in the background as music is still playing and I can pause it, etc... using the keyboard. The only way I can get the screen back is to press 's' on the keyboard and then 'enter' to exit XBMC and go back to the graphical desktop. I've tested different cables and displays and get the same results. The display/TV still 'thinks' it has a signal as I do not get the warning regarding 'no input' on the TV screen like I would if I powered the pcDuino3 off or unplugged the HDMI cable. Unplugging and reconnecting the HDMI cable from the TV and back again doesn't 'kick start' it either. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this behavior? I don't think it is a hardware issue since the video comes right back after exiting XBMC and relaunching the window manager (no reboot required). I would think it is some config setting that I am missing or a file I need to edit to stop this. In the meantime I've been using a Raspberry Pi running OpenELEC or Raspbmc for media duties, but would rather use the pcDuino if I can resolve this issue. Thanks to anyone who may be able to point me in the right direction.
  24. Hello, What makes this WiFi Dongle special for pcDuino/Raspberry Pi? Why won't it install on my Desk PC?
