Root Android

Recommended Posts

I was able to gain root access using Root Genius.

Download Root Genius and install on a windows computer. Your antivirus software will warn you about it.

Make sure you have USB debugging turned activated on the pcDuino.

Connect pcDuino OTG to windows computer and several drivers will be installed.

You will need to allow windows pc access to pcduino. A window will pop up on android asking you to confirm.

Click Root it. Doesn't take long and it is done.

Android 4.2 Bootable SD image 20140826 is inherently rooted. I know this because when I install ES File Explorer File Manager, I can enable its Root Explorer under "Tools".  With a non-rooted device, you cannot enable its Root Explorer. However, my pcDuino3 android does not appear to have a "superuser" access tool, and without this some apps will not function correctly. For example, I installed Root Checker (by joeykrim); this tells me my device is not rooted. As another example I installed full!screen (by tsorn); this installed ok but did not work.

So, as 'krummfinger' says I can install  SuperSU (by Chainfire). Great, thanks! Now Root Checker says my device is rooted, and also full!screen works.

I assume the same applies to android NAND image?
