CottonWood Reader not working

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I bought the Cottonwood UHF RFID Uart Reader and tried to read a tag, but I didn't get anything.I want arduino to read the tag and display in the serial monitor. I followed the tutorial http://learn.linksprite.com/rfid/tutorial-of-arduino-cottonwood-uhf-rfid-reader/but it wasn't useful. I tried with X-CTU as well but not working. I went through the discussions and tried them also but nothing worked out. I am using all the recommended things for it. Can someone help in reading a tag using this reader?

Would you please try the below step to confirm if your reader is UART and its baud rate is 9600 ?

1. Remove the ATmega328P form Arduino UNO.

2. Connect wires.

3. Plug USB cable to PC, open Arduino Serial Monitor.

4. Plug DC to the reader, and you will see the words in Arduino Serial Monitor.

I am having the same issue, but when I followed your instructions below I did not see any text appear in the serial monitor when I plugged DC power to the Cottonwood. Does this mean that it's not UART, or does it mean something worse?
